Lightboxes are seen in most retail and leisure environments. you will always see Lightboxes when you are in the shopping centre and a lot of the time they deliver a message to you that may sway your purchases of the day by manipulating your emotions. Strangely however you tend to be left with little memory of the Lightboxes and often forget it was even there.
One type of Lightbox is the display lightbox found in retail and leisure environments, used as a method of projecting information more aggressively. Aggressive in the sense that it does not blend in and hope to be spotted, it reaches out and demands attention. The many variants of Lightboxes used in retail environments include Curved Lightboxes, Edgelit Lightboxes and a number of Slimline Lightboxes. These products differ in appearance than those found in fast food chains such as Burger King, who use their Lightboxes to make the menu stand out and be visible from further back in the queue.
Lightboxes are also used in a medical sense to aid people suffering from Seasonal affective disorder (SAD). The constant light can help to overcome the symptoms felt during winter months. SAD Lightboxes are different to Display Lightboxes in that they are calibrated and designed to have the right output to soothe the symptoms of the disorder.
